Passenger lift vs Goods lift.

It’s always important to know the difference so that you can make the right choice when buying a lift. These 2 elevators serve different purposes to the public. Good lifts are used more to move goods/materials (with or without people) whereas passenger lifts transport people, these generally have a more aesthetic appeal to them.

Passenger lifts have a higher carrying capacity and are larger than Goods lifts typically. They also have a wide range of safety features for example safeties, emergency stop buttons, alarms or intercom systems. These are there to ensure the safety of passengers. These types of lifts are often found in public buildings, shopping centers or multi-story residential buildings because of the amount of traffic coming through these spaces. These lifts aren’t suited to be placed in a home because they do require a lot more space than what is available in a typical family home.

Passenger lifts do have a more aesthetically pleasing design and have a cleaner, more modern look compared goods lifts. Most of them will have a smooth interior finish, mirrors and good lighting. They were designed for the passenger’s comfort, safety and convenience in mind.

To make sure your passenger lift stays safe and compliant you will need to maintain it. Passenger lifts require a lot more maintenance because of their increased use. They also require a trained technician to perform such maintenance.

Goods lifts on the other hand are typically smaller than passenger lifts and were designed for durability and functionality. They are mainly used to transport goods/materials (heavy machinery, warehouse goods or packages etc.) and they are mainly found in factories, warehouses, restaurants or delivery areas.

Goods lifts aren’t as pretty as passenger lifts. They were made specifically for functional and utilitarian design with a focus on durability and ease of use, that’s it. Goods lifts should also be serviced regularly because how often they are used and also require a trained technician to perform such maintenance.
